The first insights from a National Disability Data Asset project are now available. They are in the report Understanding mental health service use by people with disability.
The report explains how people with disability use hospital mental health services. It shows that people who use government disability supports use hospital mental health care a lot more than other people.
The report was written by an inclusive research team. The team included people with disability and people with experience in disability, health service design, advocacy, research, and data analysis. Inclusive research means research with people, not just about them.
The report summary is available in plain language, Easy Read, Auslan and 6 international languages. The full report is available on the AIHW website.
